The 2021 German federal election is expected to be held on 26 September 2021 to elect the 20th Bundestag. On the same day, state elections will be held as well: Berlin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Thuringia will elect their respective state parliaments.

Incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel will retire after the election.
