Elections will take place on 9 April for the Twenty-First Knesset (Parliament) of the state of Israel.
Elections for the 120 seats in the Knesset are by proportional representation (PR) in a single nationwide constituency with parties polling more than 3.5 per cent gaining seats. Members are elected in the order specified by their party, a ‘closed list’ PR system.
The term of office is four years, and the previous elections were in March 2015.
The government is formed following the election and negotiations between the parties which have won seats.
