Parliamentary elections. Seats are allotted by religious affiliation so that Christians and Muslims (and Druze) lawmakers hold an equal number of seats.
The country has for several years been the subject of chronic political instability as well as a serious economic crisis aggravated by the explosions that hit the port of Beirut in 2020 and faced large-scale demonstrations against the political class.
